The Basics Part 1
If you are new to Breakaway Crochet then the first thing you need to learn is how to make Floating Rings. This skill is important because it’s what enables you to jump seamlessly from one motif to another.
Once you have learned how to make Floating Rings, the next step is to understand how Breakaway projects differ from what you’ve done before. In short, one motif is not completely finished before you start the next one, and the motifs have to be worked in a specific order.
To help you get your head around this, I have two resources that provide in-depth instructions that explain everything you need to know to get started.
If you prefer having a hard copy on hand, then download the free Breakaway Training Wheels eBook, available on Ravelry. This eBook teaches you not only how to make Floating Rings, but also how to make your very first project – a placemat consisting of small yo-yo motifs.
If you would like to watch a tutorial then this video on YouTube covers basically then same concepts.
So dive in, get in some practice and you’ll be well-prepared for what comes next.
